submission policy

a legacy of perfection

> the good news is that we are still looking for submissions. here at chocolate thunder, however, we try to maintain the highest level of professionalism possible. we cannot be bothered by hack amateurism unless it's professionally polished hack amateurism, which is ok.

see, it's not easy being the absolute best. that's why we hand-pick the berries for each pie and grind the beans only seconds before we make the coffee. it takes more time, but we're sure you'll agree, it tastes better!

as you may have noticed, the bar has been set pretty low for cartoons (no offense to our sole contributing cartoonist), so pretty much anybody with a stick figure and a halfway decent joke, come on down!

we're also looking for short stories and essays and poetry and imagined dialogues and so on. the only real criteria we have is that it be original -- we don't want to be sued and will hold any contributor entirely responsible for the authenticity of his or her work -- and either funny or clever (both would be acceptable). in case you haven't caught on, there's almost nothing we won't do for a good laugh.

we use a hybrid of "associated press" and chicago styles. our preferred dictionary for usage is "random house unabridged, first edition." <

HOW TO SUBMIT
A STORY
OR DRAWING:

stories, essays, poetry, and dialogues ought to be sent in rich text format (.rtf). they ought not to be more than about five or six pages typed and double spaced (not more than 2,100 words, please). it wouldn't kill you to query first.

cartoons ought to be sent as gifs or jpegs no larger that 400 by 400 pixels (and even that is too big, really).

BE SURE TO INCLUDE:
your name and, if you have one, a phone number with the best time to reach you.

OK, NOW YOU'RE READY
It's simple really, just attach your file to an e-mail and send it to:
